The Polycom RMX 2000 videoconference platform has been installed along with the Polycm CMA 5000 management system.  Some of the benefits include increased videoconference capacity from the current 32 connections to 80, better video quality, high definition video, and more robust connectivity.  The new system is fully compatible with the VSX and HDX Polycom videoconference units already installed in the schools.

The Safari Montage Home Access server is now available for schools that subscribe to this service. Here's a message from Safari Montage.

Finally, SAFARI Montage from Home!

Aloha! I realize that many of you have been waiting patiently for this feature. This added benefit was made possible by the OCISS at the DOE and they also invested in a Central SAFARI Montage server to begin sharing valuable content very soon.

We are now ready to release Managed Home Access. Now, you can have all the wonderful SAFARI Montage resources at home or anywhere 24/7. You can preview videos, build playlists, quizzes, read teacher guides and plan lessons on your schedule.

The expanded capacity allows more users to utilize the service at the same time by allowing more conferences to be held simultaneously. Hawaii Department of Education professional development videos created by OCISS (the former Teleschool Branch) will be available in PD360 in the near future. OCISS is working with PD360 on the technical procedures and will be doing a test within the next two weeks. After a successful test, existing videos will be uploaded on a regular basis until the entire inventory is transferred. Newly created videos will be uploaded as standard practice.
The former Teleschool Branch web site has changed its URL to www.video.k12.hi.us. This was done to reflect the Office of Curriculum, Instruction and Student Support (OCISS) reorganization which combined serveral programs including the Teleschool Branch into the Extended Learning Opportunities and Student Support Section.

The www.teleschool.k12.hi.us is still active and points to the same web site but all future references will use the new URL.
