Discovery Education

Hawaii is providing digital content and facilitating use of technology to positively impact and improve student achievement for K-8 schools and students through the partnership with Discovery Education, #1 Provider of Digital Content to U.S. Schools, until January 2012.

This partnership and access to digital media for students reinforces 21st century skills required to successfully compete and participate in a global society.

While reinforcing the Profile of the Literate Learner, Discovery Education’s digital curriculum resources, virtual labs, and global issues site are now available to all elementary and middle school students and teachers throughout our state.

Interactive student engagement in science and all core content areas will motivate and support student learning through a digital medium.

Students and teachers will learn to use Google Earth, Google Images and Google Translate and work with some of the world’s advanced technology to enhance and enrich their learning.

More than half of all the U.S. schools already are using Discovery Education’s digital resources. Hawaii is now part of empowering students to be users of digital content.

Technological literacy and critical thinking can be fostered within core academic content areas through on-line digital content.
